Back to the beach...

While the boys went fishing, the rest of the family went to the beach for the weekend. Lacy, Savannah, and Ella came too! The kids were wild and crazy together. They had a blast and none of them wanted to leave.

I can use these as swimmies, right?

Andy went fishing down on the bayou in Louisiana last weekend. He and Jeremy, our brother-in-law, caught lots of redfish and speckled trout. This picture is Friday's haul. They can't wait to go again.
Andy broiled some redfish tonight and it was delicious! Plus, I didn't have to do a thing :)

Oops

Mister likes using his bathtub letters to "build a word." Usually he makes words like ntsruv, xar, and hsze. Occasionally, he makes a real word. Of course he has no idea he made a real word nor does he care. Maybe he is inventing his own little language. I hope he can to teach it to someone else so he'll have someone to talk to!

Sister's stats

At her two month check up today, Lily measured 22 1/4" long and weighed 9 lbs 9 oz. She also got five vaccines and four of them were shots. Poor baby!

Bend it like Beckham

...or Adventures of a Turf Tykes mom.

Yesterday Sam had his first soccer lesson. And the joke is on me. I was mocking the person who was going to have to coach 2 and 3 year olds to play soccer and it turns out that person is me! I have to participate too! They should change the name to Mommy and Me soccer!!! I am such a fool that I actually brought a magazine in to read while he played. Instead, I had to ditch Lily on the sidelines (and hope she wouldn't get hit by a wayward soccer ball) to play with Sam and all the other moms/dads.

Sam was sooo excited about his lesson that he was actually prancing around yelling "Let's play soccer!!" We ran, hopped, walked backward, kicked, rolled, and threw the ball. He did fine with all the physical skills (except walking backwards- that was pretty funny) but his listening skills...well, let's just say there is a great deal of room for improvement! His teachers learned his name right away because he was the one who would take off with the ball down the field and they would have to yell, "Sam, come back! Sam! Sam! Turn around!" I feel certain they will remember us when we go back tomorrow.

At the end of the lesson, we sat in a circle and the teachers asked each child to name one thing they learned. In true Sam fashion, his answer was "I see elephant. I do ABCs!" Sigh. I guess those social skills need some work too.

Why? Whyyyy?!

Who are these people and why won't they leave me alone?

We did it!

We bought our first house today, complete with zipline, tepee, sandbox, and 2 sheds! (Andy can't wait to grow old and yell at the neighborhood kids while shaking his fist, "You kids get off the damn shed!") And I tested out the zipline first thing this morning. The closing went smoothly. Now we have to send the bank all kinds of money and our firstborn child...I think I signed that document this morning...hmm....maybe I can send him instead of a few payments ;)
Now I am off to shop for furniture!!

We're ba-ack...

Until tomorrow, when we go to Atlanta to close on our house Monday morning! We have been at the beach with Nonnie and Poppie Tuck, Katie and Jay, and our sweet nephew Trey. It was a wonderful week. We had gorgeous weather and went to the beach or the sound everyday. Sam loved the water and is not showing any fear of it, which is both exciting and terrifying. Even Lily got a little beach time, under the shady tent, of course. It is funny how things have changed. In high school my friends and I would spend hours baking in the sun, competing to see who could get the darkest tan. Now it is high SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, and fighting to get a chair in the shade under the tent and tarp! I can feel those wrinkles sneaking up on me already!! Here are some pics of the week:

Busy boy

Mister has a big summer coming up. He is going to school two mornings a week. We are taking a Parent-Tot swim class. And I just signed him up for "pre-soccer" lessons at the Y in a program called Turf Tikes. He will be learning to play indoor soccer twice a week. I don't know what kind of lunatic agrees to teach a large group of 2-3 year olds how to play soccer. I can't wait until it starts. Something tells me it is going to be hilarious. I will let you know all about it once we get started!
