Evil genius or just plain evil?
Yesterday we were in a hurry to leave and I was yelling at Lily to get in the bathroom and brush her teeth. After asking her nicely 3 times and then about 18 times not-so-nicely, she scurried into my bathroom and locked the door. We all know what's going on in a bathroom when a small child locks the door: Nothing good. In Lily's case, it usually involves a small tidal wave and huge amounts of toothpaste recently freed from its tube. Occasionally, she'll throw in a bar of soap broken into a thousand pieces and/or some floating letters for good measure. So, having personally witnessed the destruction an adorable 4 year old angel can do in just a matter of minutes, I was immediately outside the door.
"Lily Tuck, open this door right now! You do not lock Mommy's bathroom door!"
Silence.
"We do not lock doors in this house!(Ugh, my parents used to say the same thing. I HATED it.) Open this door!!"
Silence.
"LILY, OPEN THIS DOOR RIGHT NOW!!!"
Finally.... a quiet but snickering response.
"Heh, heh, heh, so my evil plan worked."
After that, she swept open the door with a triumphant grin. I swear she looked at me with a mixture of pity and amusement, as if saying, "Just you wait, lady. You have no idea what you're in for."
Oh my.
