What a trio

Awwww.... some cuddling time together. I love how it looks like Sam is sweetly patting Daddy's chest when, in fact, he is trying to sneak Andy's iPhone out of his pocket :)

Thanks, technology!

When Sam put a DVD in the portable DVD player or played a game on the computer, he used to get very impatient while he had to wait for the movie or game to load. He would just start pushing all the buttons, which of course, does nothing to speed up the wait and usually starts the whole process over. So I taught him to look for the word LOADING on the screen while he waited and told him he couldn't touch any buttons until LOADING disappears. Now when he is waiting for a movie or a game to start, he announces (even if no one is listening), "Wait, wait. It's LOADING. LOADING."

This morning we were in the bathroom and he had just flushed the toilet. I started to take my turn when he stuck out his hand to stop me. Looking down, I saw the water was still receding and hadn't started to fill the bowl again yet. Pointing into the toilet, he told me, "Mom! Wait! Wait. See? It's LOADING. Don't go yet. It's LOADING!"

Ski Bums

We spent last week in Colorado with the "Van Clan"- most of Andy's extended family. It was Sam's first time at ski school and he loved it. Of course, he whined and cried every morning saying he didn't want to go- it is hard to leave your best bud/cousin Trey behind when you are so content playing pretend skeeball in the condo- but once he got there he was perfectly happy. On his last day of ski school, we tried to sneak up unnoticed to watch him on the "magic carpet" but he spotted us right away. He put on a real show for us. As he skiied down (a tiny tiny hill) holding his teacher's hand, he squealed "I'm ski-i-i-ing!" loud enough for everyone to hear. It was very cute.

Lily, on the other hand, preferred cuddling by the fire with her cousin Ridgely and Poppie. I put her snowsuit on her once and she hated it. Have you seen Maggie Simpson in her snowsuit? She looked just like that, binky and all.

Can't wait until we do it again next year!

What the...

My blog looks all wonky. Anyone else having this issue? When I try to edit the format, everything is in the correct place and the preview shows it the right way, but the actual blog layout looks wrong. This is very annoying. What to do?

Buono buono

We had a special treat this weekend...dare I say the best part was having babysitters through it all?
No, we were invited to a family friend's birthday party Saturday night. Delicious food and wine were had by all.
So much fun!
But the weekend kept getting better. Mrs. Georgia and Mr. Wyatt were kind enough to let us come back the
next day for a fantastic experience. Their Italian friend, Guiseppina, who happens to be a chef, and her sons,
gave us some training, a participatory cooking class, and lunch. Wow!
We made fresh pasta. Andy, eyes wide, whispered to me, "Did you know pasta is made of flour and eggs?!"
He was amazed :)
Mr. Wyatt was hell bent on embarrassing me and insisted I help Guiseppina by making dough for the pasta
and chopping parsley. I think I scared the group with my egg cracking (What? I was nervous!) and chopping skills.
She tried to look encouraging but seemed exasperated with me.
We had a long leisurely afternoon with lots of food, wine, and the most delicious panna cotta I have ever put in
my mouth. We topped it off with a much needed siesta. Andy and I agreed it was the best Sunday of our lives.
The only thing missing were our dear friends, Jess and Kevin, who couldn't make the trip because of an illness. We
really missed you guys. Hope you're feeling better.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Mrs. Georgia and Mr. Wyatt for including us in all your
celebrations this weekend! We loved it and it is always fun to see you.

Sooo, what time should we come over next Sunday? ;)
