Never say never

There are certain things in my life I never thought I would say or do. I was wrong. Interestingly enough, most of things occurred after I became a parent.

I never thought I would:

1) readily pick someone else's nose.

2) use the word "potty" on a regular basis.

3) think to myself "When was the last time I took a shower?" or wonder aloud at 3 pm, "Did I brush my teeth this morning?"

4) run, with fingers crossed, to the mailbox in hopes of receiving an acceptance letter from a PRESCHOOL.

5) yell "We don't eat food off the floor!" numerous times daily.

6) scold "Stop that! You'll put someone's eye out!"

7) be able to recite episodes of "Dora the Explorer" by heart.

8) be so happy to see someone's BM in the proper receptacle.

9) gasp and think, "I sound just like my mother!"

10) and of course, the old standard, scream " Quit crying or I'll give you something to cry about!!!"

Okay, okay, so I've never said the previous one aloud, but always secretly wanted to. However, If I did, it would be a completely empty threat and I am sure my monsters would call my bluff. *Sigh*

11) and lastly, be so overcome with love, joy, and gratitude at the sight of my two beautiful munchkins. While they are sleeping, of course ;)

Happy SSS Day!

Today was a big day at our house- Super Special Sammy Day!!!

Lily was sick last week and needed lots of attention and Mama time. I think Sam was feeling very left out and kind of sad, so I decided we needed a special day together. Just Sam and Mom. Thus, Super Special Sammy day was born! On SSS Day, Sam gets to call the shots. He decides where we go, what we do, what we play, etc.

Jeannie was kind enough to keep Lily while Sam and I went out on the town. He chose to go to Chuck E. Cheese. We had some pizza and drinks before hitting the games. This child LOVES ski-ball. Poor thing can only get the ball in the lowest hole (i.e. the gutter) but that doesn't stop him. He plays it over and over and over...We must have played it a gazillion times today. He had a great time.

After playing outside back at home, we walked up the street to the playground. There we found some neighborhood kids to play with and even ran into the family from whom we bought our house. Small world!

Super Special Sammy Day ended with his favorite dinner, spaghetti and meatballs, and time to play with Auntie Shanny. I think he had a wonderful day and I really loved spending some one on one time with him. My sweet boy!

We decided to have SSS day once a month so I'll keep you posted on next month's activities :)

Low tech solutions

for high tech problems. We have a Canon PowerShot camera and I love it. I use it a lot- obviously. I haven't been able to take pictures for about a week because every time I turn on the camera the LCD screen is black. It still takes pictures and videos...but everything is black. Very annoying.
Andy and I figured we would have to take it to be repaired. I decided to look around on the internet to see if this was a common problem with the PowerShot (and it is) before taking it anywhere to be fixed. I stumbled upon a solution that worked for several other people.
" Turn it off. Bang it gently on the wall."
What?! These people can't be serious. But, hmmm.....take it to Wolf Camera for a costly repair....or try banging it against the wall. $$$$ vs. free...well, what the hell, it's already broken, right? What harm could it do?
Well, lo and behold, it worked!! Good as new. I have no idea how or why it worked but, more importantly, it did!

PS. I have been thinking so much about this, I even had a dream last night that I fixed the camera myself. And, ta-da!! I did! Could this be the beginning of my life as a psychic?!?! That would be awesome :)

New favorites

Smash Crash gets redundant after a while but Sam seems to love it. Lots of loud noises to make.

My cousins gave this book to Lily but Sam loves it so much, he won't let it out of his sight. I can't believe I'd never read this before. Olivia is like a porcine Eloise.

Let's hear from you!

(BTW, I totally lifted these pictures. Thanks barnesandnoble.com!)

We love Auntie Shanny!

Lily's Baptism

Sweet Lily Louise was baptized last weekend at the church in which I grew up, Christ the King. She wore my grandfather's christening gown. All of his children and their children also wore it for their christenings. Here are some pictures of the little angel:

When big brother's away...

Sister will play! Lily grabbed the Wii remote as soon as Sam took a bathroom break. She's a sneaky little gal.

Good to know...

If you fill a prescription for certain antibiotics at the Publix pharmacy, it's free! Usually it's the oldies but goodies, amoxicillin, etc. I go there whenever Sam or Lily get an ear infection.

Who's your Daddy?

Andy and Lily chat with Ella and her daddy, William. Ella is my goddaughter and William is Lily's godfather. What a handsome family, right?!
