It happens to the best of us...

Today is Andy's last day as a man in his twenties; tomorrow he turns the big 3-0! And he starts his new job (I like to call it his big boy job.) on Tuesday! Here are some pics of him as a young man:

Best Friends

To steal (and modify) a bit from my beloved Chris Farley in Tommy Boy, "Best friends don't shake hands. Best friends gotta hug...and kiss!!"

Whew!

We made it through the move and are now living amongst a sea of boxes, some still full and sealed, others empty except for mounds and mounds of discarded packing paper. (Atlantans, any idea where we can recycle this paper? It is like newspaper with no print on it.) The kitchen is unpacked. Next up, the playroom and kids' rooms...they have been dealing quite well with life in an unfamiliar place. Sam is still hesitant to go to sleep in his room without one of us there which is annoying but totally understandable. I just need to be more patient with him. He prefers to sleep on the floor next to his big boy bed instead of in it and Lily is still sleeping in her papasan because we haven't finished putting her crib together. Hopefully soon. Tomorrow our new entertainment center arrives! Yea!

Moving Day

...has been moved up a few days! Today some ladies packed the house, tomorrow they'll load the truck, and Wednesday everything will arrive at the new house. Here we go!

You grow, girl!!

First off, I apologize for the corniest heading ever; I just couldn't resist.

Sister had her four month well baby check up today (more shots, yikes!). Here are the stats:
Weight 13 lbs even
Length 24 1/4 inches
Head normal size

Getting to be a biggun'...

Sad sad sad

On Wednesday, Sam, Lily, and I had to say goodbye to our best Montgomery friends, Jess, Moseley, and soon-to-be Sweetpea. I cried all morning in hopes of being able to remain somewhat composed for the final goodbye. Jess and Moseley actually made living in Montgomery fun! Sam asks everyday if Mista Mose or Mose-wee, as he calls his best bud, is coming over to play. He even includes them on the "God bless...." list of people he loves during his bedtime prayer. We will miss being able to see them everyday but we are excited to see them make their much anticipated move back to Birmingham in their gorgeous new home. We will come and visit more than they want!!
Jess, you have been such a wonderful friend, neighbor, sewing teacher, workout partner, playdate, domino opponent, Wednesday morning date, babysitter, and fellow former Mom's group member (yes, we both got kicked out)!! Thank you.
We love you, Garrisons! XOXO
Please come visit us soon.

I have started to read some money saving blogs after seeing how some of my other blogging mama friends have been saving (Thanks for the inspiration, Lauren!). I found this on thecentsiblesawyer.blogspot.com:

For Carol

Off to the Bahamas...for the weekend!!

Or to Navarre. Six and one half dozen of another, right ;)
If I am slow in posting, it is because we are out of town. Hopefully I can get some good beach shots to put up soon.

Who knew?

Did you know that if you reheat green beans on the microwave, they catch fire? Why is that? I had no idea!
Well, that's a lie....my friend Renee told me that a long time ago but, to be honest, I didn't believe her until I almost set my kitchen on fire yesterday. It's true!!
Now what do I do with all these leftover cold green beans??

Desperate Housewife

I love being a stay at home mom and feel very grateful that we are in a position that allows me to do so. However, have I mentioned how much the housekeeping part SUCKS? ( I am sure Andy will roll on the ground laughing when he reads this, as I am not, let's just say, an avid cleaner. Then his next thought will be "Why is she blogging in the middle of the day when she could be cleaning?") I hate it! Sam destroys everything right after you clean or straighten up, so why bother? I feel like a dog chasing my own tail. Don't get me wrong, I love a clean house just as much as the next gal, but I hate cleaning!
In theory, I could get a lot done in the short glorious time the kids are both asleep in the afternoon. But half of naptime is now taken up by Sam's new nap routine which involves screaming, crying, running out the room, slamming doors, tearing his room apart, and waking Lily. I try my hardest to just keep putting him back in his room, like Supernanny says, but it is hard to keep my cool. When (if) he finally sleeps, I am too worked up and annoyed (nice words for how I really feel) to do anything but decompress, usually by watching Dr. Phil and eating bonbons. (Just kidding, honey!) I know what you are thinking, "Hmm, maybe she should get parenting advice somewhere besides TV..."
Anyway, I was thinking that if any of you out there should ever feel inclined to give me the greatest gift EVER, you could get me a housekeeper (I like to call it the gift that keeps on giving!). Ideally, she could live with us- I'm thinking Alice from the Brady Bunch (ooh, if she had a boyfriend who is a butcher, that would be even better!) but I guess I could settle for someone to come clean my house once a week ;)
Perhaps I could turn some of that TV time into cleaning time....ugh.
Well, gotta go watch Oprah, I mean, vaccuum.

OMG

Today we drove to Atlanta to check out the new paint and carpet in the house. It looks fantastic. Big props to Uncle Chuck who hooked us up with the carpet. We love it! It is so soft we all rolled around on it for a while :) The foyer is no longer hot pink (hallelujah!), and the kitchen and bfast room are a nice neutral tan. Andy's office/my sewing room is darkish blue and Lily's room is a sweet pink. We are very happy with it.
Anyway, since we drove all the way there and back in one day, we figured we'd better let Sam do something fun in between the trips. (I hate being in the car so I always assume he does too...but who knows?) We decided to go swimming at the Y in our neighborhood. But, me being me, I forgot to pack a swim diaper and didn't realize it until we were unloading the kids in the parking lot. I sent Andy in to see if we could buy one there. He came back out and said we could buy one for $10!!!! I repeat, one swim diaper for $10! WTH?! Have these people lost their minds? I told Andy no way and I would run to the store to buy a whole pack for less than $10. He argued that it would take 30 minutes to go to the store and back, let's just do it this one time, he doesn't want to wrestle the kids back into the car, etc. Fine. This diaper better potty train my kid and wipe his rear when needed! Ten dollars. I am disgusted.
So we go inside and the girl at the front desk gives me attitude when I try to check in. I am a member of the Y!!! Haven't you ever heard of the AWAY program? So I am getting more and more pissed.
Finally they hand over the golden swim diaper and it is a pair of vinyl pants you put over cloth diapers. That's it. Now correct me if I am wrong, but can't one buy a pack of those at WalMart or Target for about $4? I am shooting daggers out of my eyes at the kid while he chirps "At least he can wear these again, right?" and swipes my credit card through the machine.
Welcome to Buckhead, Katie Tuck. What have you gotten yourself into?

What? I have a baby sister?!

Sam has hardly acknowledged Lily's presence until today when he said "I want hold baby Lily. I want hold baby Lily!" It was short lived but sweet. Progress, right?

Y-M-C-A!

After I work out, Sam and I sometimes go swimming at the Y. This is how he spends most of the time in the pool:

Kiddie pool water....that cool refreshing drink!

Uncle Matt gets sexier every time we see him!
