I love being a stay at home mom and feel very grateful that we are in a position that allows me to do so. However, have I mentioned how much the housekeeping part SUCKS? ( I am sure Andy will roll on the ground laughing when he reads this, as I am not, let's just say, an avid cleaner. Then his next thought will be "Why is she blogging in the middle of the day when she could be cleaning?") I hate it! Sam destroys everything right after you clean or straighten up, so why bother? I feel like a dog chasing my own tail. Don't get me wrong, I love a clean house just as much as the next gal, but I hate cleaning!
In theory, I could get a lot done in the short glorious time the kids are both asleep in the afternoon. But half of naptime is now taken up by Sam's new nap routine which involves screaming, crying, running out the room, slamming doors, tearing his room apart, and waking Lily. I try my hardest to just keep putting him back in his room, like Supernanny says, but it is hard to keep my cool. When (if) he finally sleeps, I am too worked up and annoyed (nice words for how I really feel) to do anything but decompress, usually by watching Dr. Phil and eating bonbons. (Just kidding, honey!) I know what you are thinking, "Hmm, maybe she should get parenting advice somewhere besides TV..."
Anyway, I was thinking that if any of you out there should ever feel inclined to give me the greatest gift EVER, you could get me a housekeeper (I like to call it the gift that keeps on giving!). Ideally, she could live with us- I'm thinking Alice from the Brady Bunch (ooh, if she had a boyfriend who is a butcher, that would be even better!) but I guess I could settle for someone to come clean my house once a week ;)
Perhaps I could turn some of that TV time into cleaning time....ugh.
Well, gotta go watch Oprah, I mean, vaccuum.
