Guess who's back?
ELLIE!!!!!!!!!
Sam and his beloved baby, Ellie the Elephant, were reunited recently. For months, we thought Ellie got lost sometime during the move last fall. We tore through every single box looking for her with no luck. I felt terribly guilty about it. How could I let my son's best friend get lost? I would wake up in the middle of the night and think, "The sewing boxes! There must be one I didn't check yet!" or "The house in Montgomery! She must be hidden behind something! I will call the new tenant in the morning!" I even called the moving company months after the move begging them to look for her. But she never turned up. Sad :(
A few weeks ago, Andy got his golf clubs out and was going through the bag...and guess who he found shoved in there! Ellie looks very similar to Andy's golf club covers (a dirty Snoopy, which is so worn that Snoopy's brains are pouring out of his skull, and an old shark Andy loves because he got it on a trip to Shedd Aquarium). So we never noticed she was in there! The movers must have stuck her in there thinking she was golf club cover too. (Can you believe he just now got his golf clubs out after moving last year? I mean, we all know those young associates get to spend SO many hours on the golf course... ha!)
Sam was a little startled to see Ellie again. He didn't seem to know how to react. I am embarressed to tell you how emotional I became when I saw her again. I was excited and relieved and I actually cried a little. (I know, I know...) After a few minutes, he was happy to reintroduce Ellie to the rest of the gang, Lionel (the lion) and Monkey. I overheard Lionel saying, "Oh, Ellie! I am happy to see you again. I missed you!"
So Sam's whole entourage is back together again and, obviously, he is not the only one happy about it.

It's my party....
Miss Lily had not one, not two, but THREE birthday parties this year (like Paris Hilton only all of Lily's were on the same continent). Hey, you only turn one once, right?
That means she had birthday cake three times in one week! I am sure it was the greatest week of her little life :)
Good thing she doesn't have any teeth yet; we'd have some serious brushing to do!!
Lily holding one of her birthday presents, a giraffe bank.

Just can't get enough cake!

The aftermath

Big brother so sweetly helping with her last cake.

Peak Fest
Yesterday we took the kids to the Dogwood Festival in Piedmont Park. There was one tent with a drum circle in it; anyone could grab a drum and join in. Lily, being the kind sis she is, did just that. She loved it! She was banging away and didn't seem to mind that it was really loud in there. Outside the tent, Sam and his friend Reagan treated the crowd to some of their sweet dance moves. Time to go on tour, bra....
